D&G Climate Hub

What is the D&G Climate Hub?

The D&G Climate Hub is part of the Scottish Government’s new national network of Community Climate Action Hubs. Climate Hubs are committed to supporting community climate action on a regional basis through funding and resources embedded in our local communities.

The D&G Climate Hub aims to:

  • Support local climate action via seed funding
  • Support community groups to access further funding and sign posting to additional resources
  • Map existing climate action activity
  • Identify barriers to local climate action
  • Support communities to design and deliver climate action projects
  • Reach out to communities with little or no previous involvement in climate action and identify ways of enabling them to participate
  • Foster peer to peer learning, networking and sharing of experience
  • Encourage co-ordination of activity and collaboration between community groups, and other local bodies
  • Support communities to embed climate action in Local Place Plans

Seed Fund

The D&G Climate Hub is facilitating a seed fund to help community groups in Dumfries & Galloway to deliver climate action in their local area through grass-roots projects and events. The Seed Fund could be used to kick-start new ideas or support on-going projects, and is available as a Step Fund (up to £500) or a Jump Fund (up to £1000).

The second round of seed funding is now open to support community climate action in D&G with grants of up to £1,000. The allocated funds will support climate action projects and events running from July 2024 to February 2025. The closing date for all applications is 27th June 2024.

Community climate action comes in many forms, and could include food projects, biodiversity projects, education and workshops… and much more. Click here to download the Seed Fund Criteria PDF to see where your idea/proposal could fit. Even if you are not sure your project is climate action – get in touch with one of our Climate Officers to chat!

We encourage applications to the Seed Fund for projects that:

  • Support biodiversity improvements
  • Raise awareness and build climate action capacity
  • Support a Just Transition towards a Net Zero Dumfries & Galloway
  • Support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
  • Support collaborative working with others
  • Support the sharing of learning and skills
  • Contribute to long term positive change
